The Planets
A season finale unlike any other as The Philharmonic partners with Spartanburg County Libraries to celebrate their new planetarium, set to open in the Spring of 2025. This special occasion will feature the world premiere of a commissioned piece by our local composer-in-residence, Peter B. Kay, created especially for this momentous event. To cap off this celestial celebration, we will embark on a musical journey through the cosmos with Gustav Holst's timeless masterpiece, "The Planets." Dvořák: From The New World
Your Spartanburg Philharmonic opens its monumental 95th Season with the brave and bold Symphony From the New World under the baton of our new Music Director, John Young Shik Concklin.
Dvořák's Symphony no. 9, opus 95 is filled with dancing Czech rhythms and familiar American folk melodies. The concert will open with a newly commissioned work by Spartanburg’s own Peter B. Kay followed by Xavier Foley’s Soul Bass, an extraordinary work for solo double bass and orchestra!

American Songscape
From the swirls of sound on urban streets to the poignant strains of traditional songs, our final concert of the season paints an aural portrait of America. Led by guest conductor Jacob Joyce and featuring pianist Dominic Cheli, immerse yourself in a fusion of rhythm, melody, and life fully lived.
